Dr. Zack Shinar grew up in New York, Indiana, Illinois, California, Texas, and Arizona. He received his BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000. While at Penn, he was an instructor for their MCAT Review Course. He graduated from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in 2004. After a year internship at UCLA Harbor View Medical Center, he returned to University of Southern California + Los Angeles County Hospital to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine, graduating as a Chief Resident in 2008. Upon graduation, he accepted a job at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, California. His work and research using Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has catapulted him onto the international speaking circuit.
